Team Neotel has strong vein of history that extends back to 2003. The team was started by Eugene Ruiters and got off the ground with just 5 riders and they were backed by Exel Petroleum. Being the first predominantly African team and also having been at the forefront of bringing change to the face of the local circuit.
From an unknown and inexperienced group of youngsters, to National Champions, the road has not always been a fast and flat one; fortunately the team was built around a strong management network to fulfill the roles of mentors, coaches and managers.
The team has achieved what some said was impossible, and in the five years of existence they have produced results that rivaled some of South Africa's premier cycling teams and in the process making champions of upcoming riders.
The team has always focused on Transformation, Excellence and Development as their key principles. With these concrete principles in place, the team has managed to achieve many if not all of its yearly goals that have been set.
The results that the team obtained is proof enough that the Exel Team had a good recipe for success, a recipe they look to emulate as Team Neotel.
